Fishing

Rapids Camp Lodge Alaska Fly FishingRapids Camp Lodge fly fishing centers around the home rivers, the Naknek, the Kvichak, the Nushagak and Ugashik and Becharof Lakes offering a varied selection of fishing for rainbows, dollys, char and the five species of salmon. Salmon fishing in Alaska is what most fishermen come for. That will make it no surprise that one of Rapids Camp’s favorite things to do is exposing fishermen to all 5 species of Salmon. Most fly fishermen will love fishing the abundant Chinook (King) Salmon, Sockeye (Red) Salmon, Coho (Silver) Salmon, Keta (Chum) Salmon and Pink Salmon. You won't soon forget the adventure of fishing for these salmon and getting to experience a wide variety of Alaska's natural beauty.

Perhaps better than any other lodge in Bristol Bay, Rapids Camp has the ability with their boats, rafts and planes to make your trip as leisurely as you like. Imagine landing on the dunes next to a remote trophy char river with no other anglers for miles. You will literally step out of the plane and into the river. For years Rapids Camp Lodge has been diligently working on their ability to provide the worlds most desirable custom fishing program.

Rapids Camp’s highly seasoned pilots and guides offer a full-blown hiking program for athletic and aggressive anglers. This is your chance to lay it on the line. There are quite a few known, but rarely fished rivers in Bristol Bay. No other lodge offers more intrepid locations than Rapids Camp. Historically most lodges shy away from offering longer hikes into some of these really productive rivers – Rapids Camp loves it and welcome healthy anglers to see places rarely fished. Not for you? Don’t worry. Rapids Camp has plenty of other more leisurely fishing options.

Rapids Camp Lodge is the only outfitter allowed to seasonally anchor inside Geographic Harbor. Guests are blessed with the best shallow water Halibut, Ling Cod and Rockfish areas to fish in Alaska. The flight over the Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes, and the myriad of glaciers is worth the trip by itself. With two 26-foot Hewes Craft boats waiting, Rapids Camp is set up perfectly for comfortable days fishing the salt. The short exciting ride to the fishing grounds is dotted with seals, otters, innumerable sea birds, and often a panoramic display of whales.

Trip cancellation insurance and evacuation insurance.

Because your deposit and other payment is non-refundable, Castafly Travel, LLC suggests you consider trip and medical evacuation insurance. This insurance is the best way to avoid losing your deposit due to unanticipated circumstances or emergencies. Because Castafly Travel, LLC has no ability to control your deposit onceit is forwarded to the respective lodge, outfitter, etc., we have developed a relationship with Sportsman’s Travel Insurance.

We also recommend trip evacuation/rescue insurance with Global Rescue, a medical and security evacuation service. We strongly urge to consider these types of insurance, be it with Sportsman’s Travel, Global Rescue, or some other trip and medical evacuation insurance company. A brochure for each company is included in your pre-trip planning package.
